Barbara solomon
For this project, I was tasked with creating and designing a fictional campaign for a museum that was having an exhibition dedicated to the landscape architect and graphic designer Barbara Staufacher Solomon.
Solomon became famous for her “Supergraphics” that were very influential during the 1960s and 70s. Her use of large patterns and bold colors was something not often seen during that time and it’s appearance in the building “Sea Ranch” in California is her most memorable work.
Looking at her old work, particularly Sea ranch, I came up with a design that mimics her use of colors, symbols and patterns.
The logo
I wanted to create a logo for the event, and I wanted it to have the same style as Barbara’s symbols. I therefore took her initials, B.S.S, and arranged them into a simplistic and clean logo that reflects both her way of design as well as her way of “breaking all the rules” of design during that time period.
